Explore Montenegro Mountains
Montenegro’s mountains offer breathtaking natural wonders, from the deepest canyon in Europe to ancient virgin forests, making them a premier destination for adventure and cultural exploration.
Natural Wonders and National Parks
Montenegrins cherish their natural heritage as most precious. Indeed, you will understand this once you see the deepest canyon in Europe—the 1300-meter-deep canyon of the river Tara. Alternatively, visit Biogradska Gora, the last virgin forest on the continent and the oldest national park in Montenegro, founded in 1878.
The north beckons with countless highland adventures. Consequently, its great outdoors—encompassing Durmitor, Biogradska Gora, and Prokletije national parks—are a dream destination for hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, and rafting.
For those who prefer kicking back, this rugged region is also worth exploring. Moreover, it offers cultural and historical heritage, festive spirit, delicious natural produce, and rural hospitality.
Mountain Ranges and Regional Highlights
Besides Durmitor and Prokletije, Komovi is the third most impressive mountain range in Montenegro. Surrounded by long, rapid rivers Tara and Lim and expansive mountains Bjelasica and Prokletije, Komovi consist of three mountain wreaths: Kom Kučki (2487m), Kom Vasojevićki (2461m), and Kom Lijevorečki (2483m).
The Northern region is primarily a place of pure unspoilt nature. Indeed, many holidaymakers come here to seek unforgettable experiences in outstanding surroundings. This region includes Andrijevica, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Plav, Plužine, Petnjica, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Šavnik, and Žabljak.
