Ulcinj, Montenegro, is famed for its extensive, stunning beaches with unique, flour-like sand, offering a heavenly coastal experience with warm seas and a mild climate.
The Allure of Ulcinj Beaches
Ulcinj is recognized even outside Montenegro’s borders. It has very long and beautiful Ulcinj Beaches with unique petty sand like flour. The coast is 32km long, with 18km of beaches. The most beautiful and largest are sandy beaches spanning 15 km. Among about 25 beaches, sandy ones like Velika plaza, Mala plaza, Ada Bojana, Borove sume, and Valdanos stand out for their beauty and ambience.
Visitors flock to Ulcinj Beaches for the sun, sea, and sand, often calling them “God given.” The sand has fine, warm grains. The sea is warm, clear, and transparent, with 56 meters of clarity—the highest on the Adriatic. This, combined with a mild coastal climate, makes it irresistible for tourists.
Ulcinj’s climate is highly coveted on the Montenegrin coast due to few tropical days. Summer air temperatures reach up to 38°C, averaging 25.2°C. Sun shines for up to 11.5 hours daily in summer. Sunbathing and swimming seasons last almost 6 months, from May to October.
Those who visit Ulcinj Beaches describe the experience as “heaven on Earth.” Indeed, the nature surrounding these beaches—petty sand, warm azure sea, reed, wooden houses, raft restaurants, sun, and wave sounds—creates a serene atmosphere.

Many foreign tourists return to Ulcinj yearly. A large number vacation at the mouth of the River Bojana, on a petty sand beach, often in nudist settings, reconnecting with nature. Others choose Ulcinj Beaches because the area “brings back energy and forgotten emotions.”
