Summer House Buća

Montenegro’s coastal town of Tivat may not be as famous for grand historical sites, but visitors staying there can easily discover the Summer House Buća complex in the center. This harmonious Renaissance ensemble features subtle late Gothic details.

Architectural and Historical Significance

The Summer House Buća dates back to the 17th century and belonged to the prominent Kotor noble family Buća. Consequently, it comprises five main structures: a residential building, an economic house, a church, a chapel dedicated to St. Michael, and a multi-purpose porch with an entrance area. All facilities are constructed from fine white trimmed stone and enclosed by a stone wall.

Indeed, the Summer House Buća has been revitalized to meet Tivat’s cultural needs today. The residential building now serves as a gallery space, while the garden functions as a summer stage. During the tourist season, this venue hosts literary nights, painting exhibitions, and various other cultural events.
